HELP! in deciding which header?
Hey there guys just wondering if you could help me decide which header to go for...im debating between either the DC JDM 4-1 polished header or the Import Builders JG modified header for those not familiar the JG modded header has a 2.5" collector welded to it and is a 4-2-1 design...this is for my 190whp N/A LS/VTEC hopeing to hit the 200whp mark.....im hopeing to resolve this delema soon as i want and can get one now.....any other suggestions are welcome.
thanks

That's the combo i was looking into but i've heard that there are clearance issues with that header but it performs like a dream....keep'em coming guys.

If you are referring to ground clearance, then yes the DC JDM 4-1 does hang somewhat low. However, it doesn't hang any lower than a regular DC 4-1, and only slightly lower than the JDM ITR header. I would imagine that the JG will have better ground clearance due to its 4-2-1 design, though that is the case with almost any 4-2-1 vs. a 4-1.
If you are looking for a different 4-2-1, the Comptech header performed very well in the Great Header Test, though you'll want to pair it with a 2.25" Carsound cat. in order to get the most out of it.

Iam getting the import builders modded JG header, because it makes more power then the jdm crap, why would i pay for a stock header, think about it.
That's a sweet link man thanks a million!
....im wondering why would they modify a JG header and not lets say DC?? is there a reason? larger primaries is all i can think of??....other than that it's sold im liking that one the most clearance seems right power output looks good and price is pretty decent.....another question i had would i need a bigger cat/testpipe?? cause the one i have on now is a 2 1/4" test pipe...and lets say i change my test pipe for a bigger one can i leave my exhaust 2 14" aswell for the time being??
thanks again

If the header collector is 2.5in, then you'll want the rest of your exhaust to be 2.5 for optimum performance. It wouldn't do any harm to have a smaller exhaust, you just won't be realizing the full potential of the header.
Personally, I got the JDM ITR. I cut off the collector & made my own out of mandrel bent pipes that were slightly larger than the size of the primaries giving me anti-reversion chambers right before the convergence of the pipes. The car now feels like I have a turbo on it that doesn't spool until around 5000rpm - it literally feels like boost. Sick ****.

I realize that having the full 2.5" catback would be optimal but for the time being i could stick with my 2 1/4" exhaust and change my cat to a 2.5" correct along with having the 2.5" collected header correct?

Yeah, it's possible, but you'll want to put an extension on the exit of your cat. This is because you'll need to pinch the pipe down to almost 2.25in so that you can match your exhaust up to it - unless you put a flange in there. If you plan on doing 2.5 eventually, then you'll want to be able to cut off the pinched part & weld/bolt your exhaust right into place at the back of the cat.

i think u can do that but.. it will restrict the flow if u know wat i mean... hmmm u have to get your flange modified to 2.5 as well.. both on the hedders(as u can see on the link) and on the test pipe dude.. good luck!
I do realize it will restrict flow but i will notice an improvement....as for the flanges on the test pipe i will be upgrading to a 2.5" test pipe as well and a 2.5" flange will be welded on the collector so i should be o.k. there.
