Help! Crazy coolant problem
I just bought a 1996 Civic EX that was supposedly overheating. After getting it home and starting it up we came to find that when you crank the engine over, as soon as it fires it blows a huge blast of coolant out of the radiator. It was discovered that the radiator cap was bad, but even after replacing the radiator and flushing the system this problem still persisted.
It also came about that instead of the Y8 I was expecting, it was a D15B7/Y8 headed mini me. We confirmed the routing of the hoses, replaced the thermostat and I'll be damned if it still doesn't Ol' Faithful out the filler neck every time it fires, as well as when you bump the throttle at idle. Does anybody have anything to point me in the right direction?

There's no coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. When just idling with the cap off it doesn't blow it out. The coolant flows just fine watchin through the filler neck.
it appears as if you guys were correct. took the head off and it looked like a bear took a bite out of the area around cyl 1 and 4 right next to the intake valves by a coolant passage. hopefully this is all that it needs. thanks for the bump in the right direction, that was the only course of action not taken yet.
