help!! crank install question on ERL superdeck!!
ok here is whats going on. its ERL superdeck block (1.6 decked to a 1.8)bored to 84mm, with an gsr crank. when i checked the oil clearances with the plastigauge all the maincap clearances where right on. when i went to assemble the crank i cleaned up all the surfaces spread on a thin layer of assembly lube, and started to torque down the main caps, it the first stage sttings to 22lbs, 2nd stage to 56lbs(gsrspecs). went to turn the crank to ensure it wasnt binding it it wont budge! so i take apart to caps again clean up all the surfaces again, and apply an extremly thin layer of assembly lube(thinking the might be to much on the bearing before). lay the crank in the block it turns great, so i put in the caps and do the first stage torqe 22lbs and the crank wont even turn at 22lbs! i bought the crank used from someone on here and they ensured that the crank was mint....i hate to say it but i think the crank might be bent/warped! any ideas/thoughts???? any imput would be great thanks
Make sure the caps are in the right order and direction. If thats all good and it still won't turn, remove the bearings from 2,3,and 4.Install the crank, torque #1 and #5.If it turns add bearings in #3 and torque them down.If it won't turn now the crank is bent.

yeah all the arrows are pointing to the timing belt.....i will try that with removing the caps, thank you for the tip. anyone else??
update, its not a bent crank!!!!! ERL sent the wrong bearings!!! so instead of the main caps"holding" down the crank they where literaly bolting it down. it was my mistake when i was reading the plastigauge. live and learn i guess thats for your imput tough, truley a great tip
