help code 43
i put a 96 ls motor into my 91 dx hatch and coverted it to obd1
i can get it idle pretty good. when i give it gas quick it just bogs then does a quick jump in rpms. if i press it really slowly i can get it up to between 2k and 2.5k but on the way up it misses and it gets worse as it goes higher till 2-2.5k where the rpms just drop. my fuel pressure gauge says im at 40psi idling. there is no fuel coming out of my stock fpr at idle. swapped main relays just to see if that was hte problem but it didnt fix it. i cleaned the fuel line, fuel rail, and injectors.
my chiltons manual doesnt say anything about how to fix a code 43 so i would appreciate soem hints on what to do?

how did you convert it to obd1? Which ECU are you using? I think that (not entirely sure) the ECU you're supposed to use is OBD0, which is in the models from 88-91. Maybe you need a conversion harness. Go to http://www.jdmcars.com They should be able to help you.

What does the fuel presure do when you open the throtle?

Do you have the fuel return line disconected? And there is no fuel going out?

idk what the fuel pressure is when i rev it, because everytime i try and rev it, it bogs. i just put hte motor in, hasnt been drivable yet because everytime i push the gas really quickly it doesnt rev, sort of bogs. and if i push the gas really slowly i can get it to rev up to 2.5k. but i can get it to rev up to like 3 or so when i cover the tb with a metal plate with 2 1/4" drilled holes, it revs up and holds it for a couple seconds then slowly drops back down.
funny thing is once i put the fuel pressure gauge on, i couldnt even rev it at all in any way.
i had the fuel return line off at the fpr and had it idling for about 30 seconds and not a single drop came out

So what's the fuel presure when it bogs?

it went down like 1psi when i give it gas. like i was saying before when the gauge is on the car i have a hard time starting it, usually i need to cover the tb and restrict some air for it to start and it wont rev, maybe to like 1 or 1.5k but no higher than that. with the gauge off, if i rev it slowly i can get to 2.5k but if i press the gas too fast it will just bog.
anyways with the gauge on and cover the tb, only reving to like 1.5k it actually dropped like 1 psi, it is idling at 45psi. when i had alittle more air other than just those 2 litte 1/4" drilled holes the fuel pressure was at 40psi then i adjsuted the plate so it was only those 2 1/4" holes and hte idle went up alittle and the fuel pressure went from 40psi to 45psi. and then trying to rev it, only goes to 1.5k and it dropped like 1 psi.
sorry for that long thing but im trying to give it to you as accurate as possible

The fuel presure shouldn't drop. Look for a restricted fuel line or a bad pump.

when you say restricted fuel line, you talking about the fuel line before the fuel filter right ?
that would suck because the fuel line adn the pump are only 2 years old

From the pump up to the gauge.

Is the line kinked anywhere? That's usually the only way they get restricted. (if that is your problem)

well what i think is a good idea, let me know if its not. but im gonna see how much fuel it push for those 2 seconds. first at the fuel filter, then at the fuel hard line at the firewall, then im gonna take off the fuel line at the fuel tank right where tank fuel line and where the body fuel line meet. and if they are all the same amount then im guessing its my pump.
stupid napa pump

Sounds like a decent idea. Make sure not to splash fuel around and put out your cigarette.
