Default help with code 22 on chipped p28 ecu

well today i went out to the 1/8th mile drag strip to run.. ran some decent numbers.. but later that day i started having code 22 issues.. i'm not sure why it gave me code 22, (vtec pressure switch) i reset the ecu a few times.. kept getting it, i ran home (track is like a mile away from where i live) pulled off vtec solenoid and switch off.. cleaned the little screen out, re assembled everything, checked continuity from ecu to pressure switch.. good, checked pressure switch, good, started car after reset of ecu again.. code 22 again when car starts.. drove it to the track.. pulled out the 10mm plug on front of head where u check oil pressure.. purged it (till oil came out) then plugged it again.. reset ecu and no code 22.. ran my first eliminations and won .. 9.491 @ 73.89 mph, 2.142 60' .668 rt (1/8th)...
went back to pits and parked it.. when my class came up again, had another code 22.. anyone got any ideas.. i tried doing the "purging" that worked before.. but it didnt work this time.. .. so i had to drop out of the race.. no sense running without vtec.
can someone help me with this? i've gotta figure out whats up with intermittant code 22's?
thanks in advance.
Rick

how is the oil level? how is the oil pressure? what type of ECU? check the wiring for continuity all the way to the ECU?

thanks for the reply adrian,
i'm running right at the full mark on the dipstick.. need to hook up my oil pressure guage again.. was thinking that might affect things.. i've checked continuity from the ground wire to the back side of the ecu where the pins are soldered into the PCB. i've got good connections.. oh yeah, its a usdm p28 ecu.. socketed, chipped with a PYR rom from you (hyperduck).. thing runs great.. but that doesnt account for the code 22 i'm now getting.. i do need to check oil pressure tho.

i suggest trying the ecu on another car if possible or trying another program if possible and see if the same CEL occurs.

this way you can elimnate the ECU as teh culprit.

thanks adrian,
well i have an extra p28 i just finnished socketing and chipped with a Mugen program that also's from you.. (borrowed the roms from a friend) .. i got the exact same code.. and i've also used that mugen program in the p28 that i'm running the pyr rom in now.. same thing. its intermittant.. this morning i threw no code on my way to work, but when i started my car this afternoon, code 22 popped up again ...
i'm going to try something else as well as the oil pressure.. i got some wire from work and i have some extra ecu plug pins so i'm gonna plug them into the plugs in my car to bypass the wiring harness stuff and instead of using the plug that goes into the vtec oil pressure switch, i've got some small connectors with heat shrink on them to keep from shorting them out.. and plug those directly to the pressure switch.. just to make sure there's not a bad wire in the actual plug going to the pressure switch.. even tho i checked continuity.. doesnt mean its always good.. motor vibration could creat an open... anyway.. i also picked up another vtec solenoid/pressureswitch assembly to try on it.. thats my next thing to do.. headed out to do it now..

well i got pleanty of oil pressure going into the solenoid assembly.. 75 psi at 4000 rpm..
i tried my friend's solenoid assembly, it worked good then this afternoon after work i got another code 22
i dont think its the solenoid assembly.. i'm going to rewire the whole thing again and bypass the pressure switch plug and plug directly into the pins in the switch instead.. and put new ecu plug pins on the other ends and solder it all up.. and plug into the ecu harness plugs.. what a hassel

i figured my problem out.. it was the wiring.. even though it ohmed out ok.. it was an intermittant loose wire when i bolted the ecu up to firewall (stock location on g2 teg)
rewiring it with new ecu plug pins and new wire all the way to vtec pressure switch did the trick
