My friends has b16 engine in his hatch. The other day on his way home suddenly his car rev high and stuck at almost 10K rpm. He immediately shuts off the car. We came to the conclusion that there was something wrong with his fast idle because I have the same b16 head and when we put mine his car idles fine. We bought a new one from Honda for $170. However, when he installed it last night his car idles at 3500 rpm and increases to 4k. Plus there is a lot of white smokes coming out. Help us out if you know what we should do. There is a screw on the TB that u can adjust to lower the idle.

 

The air bypass screw would have to be missing to rev that high. Look for a MAJOR vacuum leak, like a hose that fell off or something.

 

we tried adjusting the screw but that didn't work.

 

have you checked your throttle cable? sometimes they get stuck in their own sleeve or it binds up and won't let the cable slide back into stock position. my car awhile back was idling about 4500 to 5500 rpm until I realized that my throttle cable was binding up. hope that helps

tps is what it sounds like... or map... try swapping TB's with a z6 or b-series tb, and see if it still does it.
