Default Help built my Motor: Pistor Cam Help.

Hello I'm looking to build my motor. I have a few rules I want to follow. 1st is I must use OEM honda parts. 2nd I need it to be daily driven and super relaible.

I have a 97 GS-R motor. All stock. 120K on it.

I want to up the compression and still run 91 gas safely.
It seems everyone says CTR piston will not work for me because of too much compression. Does not matter what cams I use.

So I was thinking. It must be safe to use ITR piston and ITR cams because It is used on the 1.8 motor in the type R.
I know the GS-R head makes the chamber smaller and therefore will increase compression just a little more. I think it still should be safe. Any thoughts on how I should built this motor?

So what rods with require no modification with pistons and want cams to run with it?

Thanks
Andy

CTR pistons with CTR cams. Then save money for a good tuner.

You should easily be able to run CTR pistons and 91 octane if tuned correctly.

What am I looking at when you say tuned correctly?
So I take is I will be able to get more power out of CTR cams and piston than ITR piston and ITR cams throught out power band. Not looking for just high end, I want it all with out loosing any low end. Will CTR with tunning be correct for my power band requirements?
Thanks

I just finished a similar rebuild on my motor with the same goals in mind.

CTR cams
ITR valvesprings
GS-R LMA's
ITR intake valves
P73-00 pistons (static CR of 11.33)
OEM Honda piston rings & wrist pins
ACL main, rod, thrust bearings
Hondata IM gasket

Deburred some of the crank girdle.
Deburred and smoothed out some of the casting flaws in teh intake manifold.
Degreed the crank to true TDC and then adjusted teh cam gears to TDC....I wasn't able to degree the cams in properly.

Other stuff I was supposed to do, but didn't:
.had a cross-hatched hone done on the cylinder bores (I opted for a ball hone under advice that a stone hone might take too much off the bores)
.deburr and polish the rods and crank counterweights
.shotpeen the rods and crank
.balance the entire rotating assembly
.deburr and polish the exhaust ports

Bolt-ons:
.B&M FPR
.Apex'i V-AFC
.JDM DC Sports 4-1 Header
.Carsound 94066
.Top Speed 60.5mm B-pipe
.Top Speed Mugen Twin-loop imitation axle-back muffler

I guess I'll let you know. Drop-in and start up will probably tomorrow.
