HELP Block Identification???
I just purchased a set of 75mm ycp low comp. Pistons from a guy and he gave me a free d15b block. I tried to look it up all over the web and there are so many freaking d15b's it's not even funny. Basically all I want to know is, is it vtec or non vtec?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

The block doesn't make it VTEC the head does. Pretty much all D15B engines are VTEC.

So I can put a non vtec head on a block that previously from factory came with a vtec head with no modification?
Sorry I searched for awhile and couldn't find much on it! Some folks say you have to plug the block to go non vtec and others say that there is nothing to even cap, it only pertains to b series swap, like ls/vtec, b20/vtec, ect..
Please clear this up for me, or send a link perhaps I missed something!
Thanks

If your car started out non-VTEC then swap the block.

No. Then you have to at least swap in the correct ECU so it isn't looking for VTEC components you no longer have. Don't understand why you would want to go this route. It makes no sense. Especially since you have yet to mention what head we're talking about or why you're using low compression pistons.

low power small bang and 87 octane
look for stamps on the block or crank or othe brackets. sometimes they are engine specific so they will have a stamp like gsr p72 its p73 i dont know about single cams.
the oil pan usually has a part number or at least a stamp and so does the water pump and oil pump without original pistons i think the only other place would be to look at the stamp on the crank.

I don't assume anything. I've heard from plenty of people on AND off this forum about putting low comp pistons in an N/A motor so don't think stuff like this should be "obvious".
Ok fair enough, I've just never heard of a low comp n/a motor. Good to know, thank you everyone for the info and quick responses! I'll try to be more careful with my words like "obvious" lol
