helium question
I've put almost 25K miles on my car, and I figure it is about time to change the air in my tires. I was wondering who makes the best air for high performance tires, and where is the cheapest place to buy it? Also, how much weight can I save if I fill my tires with helium? Thanks for any info.
are you f*cking serious? do people actually use something else than air from out in the open?
I always wondered about trying to ship a box that contained garbage bag filled with helium, so that it would have no weight
Although it would save some "weight" it won't reduce the mass (I'd think, since that seems impossible) and you'll still have all that rotational inertia.

Sorry i really don't know what is goin on but we should fill the tires with hydrogen... lighter than helium and FLAMMABLE.. hehe j/k... Nitrous maybe??? Peace
The size of the helium atom is extremely small. If you try this, you will quickly find that your tires do not hold pressure. The He will diffuse thru the pores of the rubber.
On the other hand, pure nitrogen has some advantages, but none that could be measured on the street.
However the best inflatant that I have found is used air. I have found that after 100,000 miles in my Tahoe, it is the best air around. If you are interested, I will sell you some cheap, considering how rare it is. How about a buck a liter?
