Default headgasket swap and timing TDC

So maybe I’m thinking a little to deep here and maybe I’m wrong, which is fine someone just break it down for me. My question is when changing out the head gasket and then putting the engine back together. Can you be 180 degree’s off with the cam, even if the cam indicates it’s at TDC. Because on the bottom end TDC is not matter, and I’m thinking if you set the cam to TDC you maybe on the intake or exhaust stroke…

how can you be 180 off? the cam gears show an up position when cyl #1 is at tdc.

ok so it's impossible then. no just checking someone was saying that they had their cam 180 off. So I wondered how that would be possible.
