Default head gasket question

sorry for a nooby question. but,.....

just completed an ls/vtec conversion and drove the car around for about 10 mins. i just found a good deal on pistons online i cant pass up and want to change my pistons now. my question is, can i go ahead and take my engine apart to put the pistons in without having to change the headgasket or will i have oil leaking problems if i dont change it. dont really want to change the head gasket as it only has 10minutes on it and a new one would put the pistons out of my budget. thanks for any help.....

This would be my thoughts.

"what is cheaper, replacing the headgasket now for, say, $50.00 (give or take), or replacing major engine components due to a headgasket failure later?"

If it were me, I'd change it.

Headgaskets crush as soon you torque the head. That's the problem.
