Default Having Problems with Local Machine Shop!!!

I have a 99 B16A2 (Si) head that I took to this guy for all new valvetrain, I gave him NEW in Honda Packaging Cast Iron Guides, and NEW Seals, and he's telling me on the phone today, that the Stems of the valves do NOT fit into the guides.... What the hell is wrong???

I think This guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

How much experience does the shop have when dealing with Honda products?

There are a lot of machine shops that don't deal with many (or any) Honda products.

But maybe you need to take your stuff to a different machine shop. If you did get the correct pieces (not saying you didn't), then they should fit and the guy is talking out of his ***.

I would thank the guy for what he's done and find a shop well versed in the art of Honda engine building. Take your stuff there and see what they say. It's very much a possibility that you received incorrect valve guides, or incorrect valves when they arrived. If you have the originals then use them as a point of reference.

The valves are the originals... I bought 16 NEW guides...

4 of the valves were bent, so I got 4 valves from a friend, and they fit into the original guides before I brought the head to the guy.. The only thing I can think of is... Wrong guides were ordered at Honda, but I always make sure and double check with them on the ordering.

I'm starting to hyperventilate...

Please don't

Go to Honda with the situation and see what they are willing to do.

yeah, thanks for the good words of wisdom, ask around tomorrow and see what you can think might else be a contributing factor... I am going there at 8 am, and then I have to work ALL day for about 13 hours. This is not what I wanted my Christmas to be like.

**** happens. I found out today that the Bride seats I ordered in October (and were supposed to be delivered two weeks ago) won't be arriving until January 17th at the earliest. The least we can do is take what we've got and go with it. Good luck.
