having a issue with b18b into 98 ex.
I recently installed a b18b into my 98 ex.
car starts cold almost dies so i hold throttle till warms up.
start driving and engine is still boggy and runs like a bag till engine light comes on, then drives and holds idle fine.
idle is still high though, about 1600 rpm.
any ideas?
heres the catch, i have a cel but when i check for codes and cel stays on constant with jumper in the blue 2 pin under the dash...
obd2a-obd1 rywire jumper harness with p75, and rewired dizzy plugs for the obd1 dist.

anyone?
so today i unplugged the map and car starts and runs fine 800 rpm...?
but eats gas lol no wonder.. but this is super odd to me, normally cars would die with map unplugged... wtf is it something to do with the rywire harness i'm missing?
i've tried everything, and thats why i'm here for questions..

All the mechanical timing is perfect and the distributor wiring is fine as well.

have you went over and double checked the rewired dizzy plug and made sure it was correct? i read of a similar instance on another forum and the person did not have the dizzy rewired correctly like he thought...

Went over the distributor wiring twice, one wire at a time. All wires are soldered and taped. Even tried a different distributor. New plugs as well.
The car only seems to run poorly with the MAP plugged in.

could you have mistakenly have mixed up the tps and map sensor plugs?
as in had the tps plugged into the map sensor, and the map sensor plug, plugged into the tps sensor....

No. The tps sensor will not reach the map sensor because it's loomed too closely to the IACV plug on the stock engine harness.

im assuming you are using the 98 civic ex, obd2a engine harness?
what are your grounds like? grounds as in ground wires, are they where they should be?
EX: tranny to frame, rad core support to the valve cover, etc etc

yes i have to reuse the 98 ex harness as it is a one piece harness..
all grounds were cleaned up as swap went in to avoid any problems.
