It is nothing more then a support for your seats and your speakers YOU CAN always put a strut bar there to reinforce that area!

As for can you remove YES you can cut it YES YOU CAN it is only thin metal that could not support anything other then some rear seat and speakers nothing to do with the integrity of the car!

rear of a EM1

just to give you an idea how how far you could take this lol

You cant modify that in New Zealand without a cert and even then you would probably be lucky... You cant even "legally" open the speaker holes up to fit bigger speakers

We get pretty much all performance cars (S15, R34 GTR's, Type R's etc etc) without any hassle so we do all right

Actually that flimsy looking thin metal piece does increase rigidity somewhat. I know in a tube chassis its a different story, because the tubing is the frame and the shell doesnt really support much of the load.

How can it increase anything when it is wafer thin?

Put a strut bar there if your so worried about it hell i know hard core people on the street who have tined there whole rear of the car and still drives fine with out any problems or rigidity

Truth is uni-body cars flex period! How do you account for hatch back cars?

Oh and to add the frame on the rear of the car the part were the window is is what helps “brace the car” not the parcel shelf which is held in by nuts and bolts
