harness differences
I'm currently in the process of swapping some wires from one harness to another. My car is a 93 si hb. The donor wiring harness is from a 95 civic dx coupe. It is the harness that runs from the ecu, up to the fuse box, to the engine harness, and runs along the firewall as well. The particular wires I am rerouting from the dx harness to the si harness are the 02 sensor wires. Why? Because my si harness is chopped in half at a certain point and soldered together. This disrupts the shielding of the 02 signal wire and does not give off a correct signal that I need to tune the car with hondata. Now I also noticed the distributor wires are shielded. Since I'm in there, I figure I might as well replace those as well. Heres the thing. Five of the wires are all shielded together in my factory si harness, and only 3 of them are shielded on the dx harness while the other 2 run through the harness unshielded. Is there any reasoning behind this? Why would one harness shield two wires and one harness not? Did Honda maybe realize that these two wires did not need to be shielded and stopped doing it on the 95's? I'm curious to know before I continue on. Thanks.
