Default H23A1 96 lude SI

I have a couple of questions about the 4G Ludes. Is the H23A1 better, worse or just different than the H22A1? I am looking at buying a 96 SI with 110K 5spd., with an H23A1 motor, they want $6500 for it but there is a slight ticking coming from the DOHCs. Is this normal on these motors with 110K mi. on them? What tell tale signs should I look for? The car does not have any (noticeable) mods that I noticed and the owner stated that it was stock except for a heavier "racing" clutch.

well the h23 has onlt 160hp and no vtec when the h22a has vtec and 190hp in 93-96 and 200 in 97 and up.
the pinging is prolly the car in need of a valve job. but it could be detonation.

I am not really worried about the motor too much since I plan on building a different one but I need it to last a little while until I can get the new one built. Is there a difference in the way the H23 and the H22 mount, or can I use the same motor mount locations if I decide to go with an H22A?
