H23 still no start condition?
The details of the problem is noted below from a previous post. I have now pulled each of the plugs to confirm there is spark there. I also disconnected the fuel line and cranked it and fuel gushes everywhere. Does anybody else have anymore ideas as to what to try. Could it still be the igniter? or maybe the ecu? The h23 just wants to sit there and crank? I have also reviewed the entire engine compartment and see no loose wires of any kind? Your help is appreciated...
h23 bought dead whats wrong? WTB Lower end H23 5:09 PM 3/25/2003
I just purchased a 92lude and it currently has a h23 in it. The motor will not start though? I have spark at the coil and fuel at the rail? The previous owner said they we driving along and the oil light came on they proceeding into a gas station to get some oil they shut it off added the oil and the motor hasnt started since? I have cleaned off the spark plugs which didn't appear to be to bad. The motor does crank and the top end is turning so its not the belt? I'm zero smoke either? Do these H23 let go like this? I'm thinking even if one or two cylinders rack there rings it should still start with alot of smoke huh? any ideas before I pull this bitch out....Oh yeah whats the story with putting a h23 head on a f22 block? What mods are required to do so and is it worth it? Anybody have a good low mileage lower end close to Louisville Ky if so email me...Thanks

Take one plug out of its cylinder and put the plug wire back on it and crank the engine to see if you have spark out of the plug. It would also be a good idea to get a distributor cap and rotor to freshen the ignition a little. You have fuel in the rail, but do have good fuel pressure? Are ALL the ground wires connected? Just look around the engine and see if you can find any black wires that aren't connected to anything and connect them to some bare metal. Even if the rings are bad it would still start, but just not run well. Lude engines don't let go like that usually. About the F22/H23 thing. It is the same as destroking and H23. There is no reason to do that. The smaller stroke is better for high RPM, but the H23 isn't so bad that you'd need to destroke.

OK run some injector cleaner through there. Depending how long the car sat the gas could be bad. If that doesn't work then have your injectors cleaned by some one like RC Engineering. You may have fuel gushing everywhere, but it may to too low of a pressure for proper injection. There is a normally over looked wire that connects to the thermostat housing on the back of the head. This wire is the ground for the injectors. If it's not connected then they won't fire....you'll have gas everywhere and the correct fuel pressure, but no injection. Since you checked each plug and they all fire you can rule the ignition out. Go look for that wire! There is little reason it would come off under normal driving conditions, but anything is possible. I've forgotten it before. Mike
