Icon3 H22a Piston

The Piston has received some slight damage,i refer to it as a scuff mark they are brand new and did not run for very many miles before the motor was torn down due to a diffrent problem but during the break down i noticed the scuffs..what could cause this the rings and pistons were brand new and installed properly.. bore clearance? low oil pressure? Its The same on all Four Cylinders its on the same sides...and also has left the similar mark inside the sleeves its not horrible..you can just tell something wasn't jiving right

On a side note... what was the other problem that the engine was torn down for?

That's a little bit more than "Minor Damage" The pics make it look like the top part of the skirt is pretty much wrecked. What does the bore look like?

As with GhostAccord, why was the motor torn down?

Balance shaft eliminator kit was installed improperly was letting oil into the shaft area built pressure and shot the left plug out thats why we broke it down

The balance shaft area is open to the bottom of the block... are you sure the plug wasn't installed improperly... sounds like the engine may have been running with little or no oil pressure for a while. Dry cylinder walls would explain the heat and galling on those pistons.
