Would it be an easy swap to put a H22A in place of a D-series engine for a 2002 Honda Civic LX?

 

Easy Answer, can not be done. Of course if you have enough money any can be done. But it is not a swap that is done regularly. You need to look towards the K20A swap (Civic SI or RSX).

 

one of my friends actually told me I should just rebuild my engine bottom up and it should gain a hell of alot more horsepower is that true? If it is then wouldn't it be cheaper just to do that?

 

2002 civics don't have d-series engines. They have K-series engines.

Are they not a D17 but not really related to the older D series?

 

Oops. You're right. I thought all civics had gone to different variants of the k motor. My bad. Sorry.
