Default H22 Rebuild

I've got an EG H/B with a JDM H22 lump in which im getting ready to go back on the road but my crank seals have gone so i'm getting the engine out this weekend. While the engine is out i may aswell go through the whole engine and make sure everything is ok and also was thinking about swapping in a set of type s pistons or aftermarket of the same compression ratio. This will be the first major work i've ever done so i have a few questions.

Should i change the main and rod bearings while im there?

If i did swap out the pistons will everything run ok with the stock ecu or would i need to get it mapped?

Are Nippon pistons any good and would i be able to use them with stock rods?

This is quite a daunting task to me so any help you could give would be greatly appreciated

h series engines require sleeves before pistons can be installed

Ok thanks, looks like i'll be going for type s pistons unless my bore is in a poor shape when i strip it.

With the slightly higher compression will i need a bit of RR time do get it running to its full potential?
