Default h22 oil pump question

So after having the head off and went through I made sure cyl 1 was tdc and also the cam gears were pointing up but I did not pay any attention to the oil pump if it was positioned in anyway does this matter? Does it matter if it rotated some and I just put the belt back on? I am not familiar with how the oil pump works. Thanks

Default Re: h22 oil pump question

the oil pump runs directly off the crankshaft, the belt shouldnt have anything to do with it. the water pump is belt driven, but it does not need to aligned. however, both balance shafts and the cams need to be aligned properly with the crank gear.
