Im installing an obx lsd into my m2a4 tranny but when I put the case halves together there is about a .6mm gap. When the trans is assembled and the case halves torqued the input shaft is very tight. It gets tighter as you turn it. This is with the factory shims still in place. Do I just get a shim .6mm smaller? Any help is appreciated.

take the stacks out and tighten case together...make sure nothing is binding. sure the bearings are bottomed out toward center of diff. if the clearance is ok and it spins, then you might not need a shim. if that's ok, take it out and inspect the mainshaft...your two washers under 1st gear and mainshaft bearing are there? and you are sure you are aligning the topmost mainshaft washer with the tab correctly? if you don't seat this, and/ or it's not in the right spot it will bind the mainshaft. check all these things and report back...
*i'm assuming you didn't disassemble the mainshaft at all...note if you did.

I havent tried assembling the tranny without the shims but I would assume it is more than enough clearence without it. The 2 washers under the mainshaft are still there and no I didnt disassemble the shaft. The topmost washer appears to have a little tab to align with the reverse idler gear shaft, so that fully seats with the case. How will I know if its too much clearance when I assemble the trans without the shims?
