I had owned a 5th gen prelude back in 98 so i thought this might help.

92-96 vtec prelude reads H22A1
97-01 prelude reads H22A4 (it doesn't matter which model, SH or not)

JDM Prelude vtec motor (I bought one before) reads only "H22A"

JDM Type S motor reads "H22A" and has a JDM red valve cover

If you have the head off, the piston dome is higher on JDM motors.
