Default GSR vs. LS/VTEC

Hey everyone, I was looking into putting a ls/vtec into a 97 dx and would build the block and head but now am thinking about a built up gsr turbo. I know the ls has lower compression which is good for turbo and what not but I don't know too much about the gsr, except for the vtec is already in the head eliminating the need for a b16 one.

LS turbo is would be what i would choose if i was you. Save the money you would have spent on the GSR and invent in some nice rods and pistons, or maybe even sleeve the block. a few fuel system/engine management upgrades, turn up the boost and off you go. Turbo'ing VTEC is cool, but sort of defeats what its meant for.

LS turbo, cheaper, just as fun
although if you have the money, go head and go fully built gsr, either way i dont think you'll be disappointed.
and the ls/vtec is probably not needed, keep the reliabilty of the ls or gsr.
Also if you dont plan on touching the bottom end and this is a mild build the lower compression LS will be more "boost friendly"

Well from what I experienced, ls is fun as well, but vtec and turbo is the greatest feeling

Reading comprehension, can you dig it?

Vang, tell me why lsvtec sucks if you don't have much money. It's still cheaper than a GSR motor with no real disadvantages, other than having to run an oil line and put in some dowel pins.

LS/ Vtec isnt a stock motor its a built motor. why wouldnt it be better then a stock motor??? I know from experience that a GSR will outlast a LS/Vtec mileage wise...

listen douche, he said built ls/vtec or GSR turbo. I told him to build an LS turbo, it will be cheaper and just as fast as the GSR turbo in the long run.

LS/vtec turbo

definetly cheaper than a legit GSR engine and turbo setup

okay....buy ls block...buy a vtec head........ vs buyin a complete gsr motor...you have less headaches....you have all the needed bolts.... no parts to buy to make vtec work.... if you build up both motors..... its gonna cost about the same (pistons, rods, etc) seen some really ghetto ls/vtec ..... less prone to oil leaks....i just dont trust revin a bottom end that wasnt meant to be rev'd that high.... if you dont go forged pistons the gsr will have oil squarters and ls dont...doin ls/vtec the right way would cost lots of $$$.....

I would do LS turbo and use a gsr tranny. You can do a built LS turbo setup for far cheaper than buying a GSR swap and going turbo. I would keep LS/Vtec out of the question. I have to many freinds with problems with all motor LS/Vtec setups. LS boost is great for big horsepower and torque ratings.
