gsr bogs down when shifting out of vtec

gsr bogs down when shifting out of vtec
ok, a buddy of mine has a 96 GSR motor in a EG, only problem with it is when your in vtec and you shift hard it bogs down for a quick second then pulls again...anyone else had this problem or know what the problem could be? anything will help thanks guys
