Default Grounding wire?

What gauge wire can I use to make new ground wires? I can use speaker wires right? Is 12 gauge wire ok?

I also see people using 8 gauge wire. Which is better? Thicker wire?

I have a 1200rms amp and Im using 8awg...It all depends on the power of the amp and how much juice it will take..Im using 4awg for the bat and 12awg for the speakers.

Use at least a 4 gauge for the battery ground and 10 gauge for other stock grounds.

I replaced all my ground wires with 4 gauge. Not that expensive.
