is it a good theroy on gearing?????
d series motors. If I boost my d16z6 with 8lbs I'm not gonna get a good amount of traction till 3rd gear (our local track isn't very good) then it will just take forever to pull and I'm never gonna get to 5th gear at the end of the 1/4 with a street honda with limited budget, so I could go for top end with 5th gear, so this is my idea 1st and 2nd gear be a DX tranny gear and 3rd and 4th si tranny gears and then 5th a dx tranny gear again, I'm also using a lightweight flywheel so that won't help traction I was thinking that set up would be good for quarter mile.
hmm...you sound mildly retarded...if you're speaking of turbo anyhow, cuz you know its has to spool and such...not to mention even if you're speaking of a supercharger well get slicks that work for the 1320. no need to change gears.
well I'm very proud of your thousands of posts I think by now you leave out personal insults because I'm going turbo and its a t25 so spooling won't be a problem traction will and I'm glad your so smart and don't bother reading the whole thing because then you may have noticed the parts that say limeted budget and street car, and I have a dx tranny and an si tranny that both need rebuilt so changing some gears won't be hard so if someone with some experance and who spend time building there cars instead of sitting behind of a computer screen talking about it feel free to respond
since the 1st and 2nd gear out of the dx is longer he meant that it might hook up better off the line.
now for the 3rd and 4th gear pull it sounds like he wants more acceleration since he will be up to speed and traction wont really be an issue.
and then for 5th could be a highway gear and/or for high top end.
is there anyone that has the math to calculate where the rpms will land shift after shift? 7200rpm shift point. he sounds like a little new to the trannies and so am i and i am curious about this as well.
