IMO honda dealers are the import equivelant of a GM dealer. everyone owns them, and most dont have the money to have them serviced at the daler. so only doing warranty repairs doenst put much money in my pocket. my high school worked very well for me. i pondered uti, nad, and wyotech. i just paid attention in high school and did pretty well. if thats your thing do it. id rather work on honda's on my own terms. sorry if i pee'd in your chereios.

i dont go to uti but, i live in so cali and i go to a community college out here that has a great automotive department. i thought about going to a private trade school like uti but the i didnt have that kind of cash. i can get the same education where i go as i would at uti. it may take a bit longer but ill get there. and i only pay 11$ a unit. you should look at some local schools in ny sometimes the smaller places are just as good as the big ones.

Ill comment on UTI

UTI is like any college, there are some things you will like some you wont, some good classes some pointless ones and some that you think dont give enough info. im planning on attending UTI in the fall because i dont know what i want to do with my life but the Nascar UTI school in NC sounds like fun.

Ive already visited the phoenix AZ campus and its a good facility, im forutionate enough to know people who are in the program, out of the program and planning on attending it. they all say the same ****. the managment could be better, the student aid is good IF you know who to talk to, some instructors are great some arent but OVERALL its well worth the money.

WorkforHonda, there's a school right in the heart of Manhattan if you wanna take a few classes prior to committing and moving. http://www.apextechnicalschool.com . I've done some research and UTI seems to have the best overall program, especially the factory supported programs like BMW S.T.E.P..

I will also tell you, the guy who's doing all my machining for me said that ASE accreditation isn't a necessity. You might ask a non-dealership shop if they're looking for help. Get in, get some experience and free training, see how it goes.

I have a friend that just attended UTI and this guy didnt no **** about cars and when he got done he still didnt no **** about cars....I guess he somewhat understood the pronciples however he couldnt get the job done. His parents spent like $30,000 for him to take an extended vacation in the sand. I couldnt believe he paid that much for that tool set, that they said was free...hehehe. I have never been to a technical school and he is still to this day is asking me questions about his car. Oh yeah and did graduate from there which is another kicker? I guess like any school its not what there giving that matters its what your taking that does..

yea i heard of that manhattan school.. im 21 and still live at home.. im looking at this as an opportunity to get out of my house and be on my own..and persue school at the same time.. in regards to the last post.. i guess your friend just bullshited his way threw the courses.. i mean then again thats the same for alot of things.. my main concern is i def. want to move to cali.. just a different atmosphere... so i want to attend the best tech school that they have.. also me and my best friend are doing it together.. were prolly gonna get a place down there.. dont get me wrong the UTI is like 25k but so is any other 4 year college per semester.. i went to manhattan college for one year it was like 18k anyways.. im sure there are gonna be mixed reviews about UTI but overall it seems like a pretty good program.. i mean going to the school is one thing..but when im there its up to me to get what i need out of it.. rite now my life is kinda in the $hits .. im 21 still at home.. i work at napa.. not really to bright up here.. i went to a local community college near my town and took automotive.. really not hands on at all.. i take this as a big step in my life.. get to go to a school which is pretty much mostly hands on and 100% automotive.. no english no mathamatics.. just straight cars.. seems like a pretty good deal.. plus all in just over a years worth of classes.. i was just hoping to hear that someone from this board attended UTI.. but as of right now there are no openings still nov. at the CA. UTI campus.. so i still have my options open.. either that or i can stay at home and live with my parents and go to apex or lincoln tech
