shorter gearing in the GSR/ITR/SI tranny versus the LS tranny...means you'll accelerate faster, but in turn sacrifice some top speed

ls tranny has longer gears, more ideal for fuel economy.

the itr and b16 gear ratios are much shorter. Rather than going 86mph at redline in 3rd gear, you could be at 86mph @ 5k in 4th gear. It doesn't seem that good, but the benifit is, the short gear ratios will accelerate you much faster.

If you wish to keep your 5th gear fuel economy, a fidanza flywheel will "free up your revs"

The order i would mod is -> AEM CAI, Catback, DC Header (if you want high end power and sacrafice low, get a 4-1, if you want more low torque with less of your gain in the high RPM, get a 4-2-1). Then get accesory pullies and your flywheel.

also lighter weight rims reduce rotational mass which will give you the same result as a lighter flywheel, both work off of less rotational mass to accelerate you faster.

i think that b16 tranny will be good for you, you'll love it. In the future if you want some mods that will make your car go faster, but still pass smog, I believe greddy came out with their street legal LS turbo kit, but its not cheap.

i think it would be worth it for a CARB legal turbo! but right now i just found a good deal on a 91 mr2 turbo with 77k miles for about 7900. i have to wait 2 weeks though cuz the guy is in the process of getting his pink slip from the bank i think... thanks for the info. BTW anyone know where the toyota tech forums are?
