A good or bad idea ?????
looking for some input on this question
I have a B16A engine that I am thinking about putting in my 90 teg. I was thinking that after putting this in I would rebuild the B18A bottom end and go the LSvtec route. Currently the B18A has 125,000 miles on it. Now for the question how long would this engine last if I were to put the B16 head on it and keep the revs below 7500? also if the bottom end was to go out could the modified b16 head be put back on the B16 bottom end or would this head not work on a b16 after the modifications.
All input is welcome.
I forgot to add this the head also has crower 63402 cams would the valve clearance be ok if the head was on the B18 block I'm assuming it would be since the B18 pistons are flat and not domed like the b16 pistons.

thats what I was thinking but my main concern is will the modified b16 head still work on the b16 bottom end if the b18a bottom end goes bad
http://www.importreview.com Go to their forum, they do LS/VTEC's everyday. Also check out their store at http://www.importbuilders.com
No, If you want ls/vtec there are many ways to make one work. Making one that will live long and not spin bearings costs a lot more money. TRUST me, I know, you'll be better of rebuilding your ls, selling the bshitsteen and using that money to turbo the ls.

ok if I was to sell the B16A what would I get roughly for the engine,Y1 trans, ecu
also the entire valve train has been redone w/crower 63402 cams, crower springs, crower TI retainers, skunk2 high compression valves, ARP head studs, and a radius valve job has also been done on the head.

yes, it will still work as long as you take the plug in the head out for the oil galley when you put it back on b16 block.
I don't think the B16 ARP head studs will work for the LS/Vtec set-up. And for how much the block can bring.....it will vary especially if you are trying to sell it in the IL area.

If you have high lift cams ... i wouldnt suggest using them with the stock b18a pistons...the valve reliefs are different on the vtec pistons for the express reason of the higher valve lift of stock vtec cams...i have heard of people building ls/vtecs using the stock ls bottom end and stock vtec head ...even having problems with valves hitting pistons....
