Default Golden Eagle Question

I got a question. I am building a motor, the question is I sent my block to golden eagle and they accidentally O-Ringed my block. The head gasket I got is the Cometic High Perfe. Head Gasket and Golden Eagle said that it is not compatible with a block that has been o-ringed. Then I called Cometic and they said I can use the High Perf Head Gasket long as the rings are copper. I am confused and need expert advice from you H-Ter’s. Thanks.

Call Goldeneagle and ask them what head gasket they suggest.

Then, sell the Cometic.

That's the easiest thing to do.

I already spoke w/ GE, and they said the HP gasket from cometic will not work. But when i spk w/ cometic they said that i do not need to order a new gasket. They said that as long as the o-rings are copper that it will work and still seal, and I can use that gasket. My question is, has anyone every tried this or knows of anyone that attempted it. If so did it work.

I wouldn't feel safe risking it. Just my opinion.

I would just buy the right head gasket so you don't have to wonder if it's gonna work no matter who says so, you can always sell the old one

please post in honda tech, in both categories/

Thanks for everyone's opinions on what to do. But want I really want to know is if anyone has tried that combo out, example:

Golden Eagle's O ringed block w/ copper o-rings together with the cometic High Performance gasket.

Reason why:

Golden Eagle says it will not work.

Cometic Gasket said that it will work.

So if anyone know of or has "heard of" anyone trying this out please let me know. Thanks again everyone.

Well, I always recommend going with a stock gasket. I have used Cometic in the past with fair sucess, but not nearly as much as with a stock gasket. That is all I run on my race and street motors and they hold 40 - 50 psi of boost sometimes for an entire race season!! That's alot of abuse. We have many over-bored stock gaskets in stock and ready to ship. Let us know what bore size you need and we can get one out to you a.s.a.p. Give us a call (909) 592 - 4311. Thanks.

Listen to what Vince says and not Cometic. You really don't want one o-ring over another. Might be ok but why take a chance? I don't see why they would not trade your HP for a MLS. If they won't, sell it and buy one from GE. They should know what works more than anyone else.
