Getting confused over B16 swaps
HT, HELP ME! Im getting down to picking a B16 swap and thought the hardest part was getting the money in order. Now its almost time and have the conundrum of picking which version to put into my project (will be a HF, oh it will!)
Upon looking arond HMO there are 3 b16 series engines. The SIR-I, the Xsi, and the SIR-II.
Now figuring I want OBD-1 (and the change was made in '92) that rules out the +92 SIR-II swap, that and the hydro tranny.
So now I have to pick between the SIR-I and the XSI... although, I see no difference between them (other than year). Without any imput, Im leaning on the SI-R swap for the facts of its cheaper, and the S1 tranny (from what I've heard its a damn close ratio). Let me hear some feedback.

This is a drop-in, get a tune, and have fun with until something happens (ie. crashes, explodes, etc)

I'm just getting confused over which would best suit my needs on getting it legal in CA aswell.

Dude what kinda of car do you have? You said you wanted an OBD1 motor, that means you would be buying a:
92-95 B16A SIRII
92-93 B16A XSI
88-91 year is Pre-OBD or OBD0 if you like to call it that way. Anything 96 up is OBDII. The choice swap for your car would be the 92-95 B16A SIRII if you wanted OBD1. If you have an CRX HF then stick with the 88-91 B16A SIR which is pre-OBD
