Default Generic intakes??????

I am contemplating buying a generic intake on ebay. I am on a really tight budget, but want to spice up my '94 Accord a bit. Is there any real problems with these sorts of intakes? Can anything bad happen to my car? Are the filters janky? Here is a link to one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1847150873 and another http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1847168439

Please help, I need your guys vast knowledge

Theres nothing wrong with those intakes. You need to look at the big picture though. What direction are you going to take with your car? Do you want to make it look good or put the money under the hood?

If you are just going for looks then that intake would be fine. If you are wanting to go for more power then you might want to save up and get a better cold air intake.

As far as the filters go I'm pretty sure there not K&N, but rather just a K&N style filter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, J

IMO, intakes are all the same unless you are pushing over 300 horses to the wheel. Two things to check for:

A. Is the pipe made out of some sturdy type of metal?
B. Is the air filter an air filter or is it just a screen?

There is differences between short ram intakes.

Piping diamater, tapered or not, filter quality, how the bends effect flow, etc, etc

So would you reccomend that I immediately replace the filter? If so how do I know what size to get?

If your buying a CAI you also want to be sure it has the mounting bracked that bolts onto your chassis. A friend of mine bought a generic cai for his gsr and about a month or two later from vibration wore a hole through his AC line and that ran him about 700 bones. When your buying a good name, such as AEM or Injen, your not just paying for the label, they put time in testing and fitting each application.
