My gas needle is stuck on full, any ideas on how to troubleshoot the problem? I've never run into anything like this before

sorry i am search retarded, i did a half *** search and found nothing... another search has lead me to the correct answer. Well hers what I found correct me if I am wrong. Ground the sending unit wires to check if the gage reads E. If it does, sending unit is bad, if not gauge is bad?
