g3 DIY Trunk Brace question.

which type of bar would be more effective in a diy trunk brace bar project? a square or round? this will be for a dc chasis. which one would be stronger againts flex?tia

neither do i. but i think you are right about the squre becuase it will sit flat on the edges where i would bolt to the trunk.
Squares are stronger in one way (corner) than round... but on the flat sides there is they are basically butter (when compared to round). IF you knew exactly where the stress was coming from, and you could control the impact, direction, stress limit of the metal, etc (ie. God) then the sqaure would be a better choice.

A round object will distribute weight or stress to the opposite side of the object were as a square object will distribute the weight or stress to the wall of that object. Think about a square, if you laid it on its side and moved it back and forth it wouldn't be very stable, if you did this to a ball or circular object then it would be more stable. If you look at any WELL MADE strut brace, you'll see that inside they used a spherical hole that travels the length of the bar. That hole helps with weight distribution. Round is better.
