Default Fuel pump prime Q"

i have my motor out as of right now, and i want to check my fuels system for leaks. My problem is, if everything disconnected the fuel pump will not prime? mine wont, with my stock comp or aftermarket. Is this supposed to be? i think it might but not sure
thanks

It probably depends on what's removed or disconnected in your case. If the ECU, main relay, & most wiring are still in place, it should work.

I guess I don't know what's different. I'd wanna see a wiring drawing for YOUR model & year before I pretend to know too much. I really didn't think the engine physically has to be there.

Got a Helm book? Maybe some of the ECU/mainrelay/fuelpump circuits travel thru a wiring harness that you've got disconnected? Have you unplugged some of those connections near the brake master cylinder?

Does your engine have a group of ground wires at the thermostat? Maybe that's what's missing? Your ECU won't power up without (+) AND (-) power.

not sure, but you can always do a direct wire to pump set up

i was gonna try that but thought it would power up without the engine.

Jimblake- yes it does have a group of groung staps on the thermostat, thats what i figured too would be the reason the ecu wouldent power up. Its a 99 ex chassis and harness if it helps

Can anyone positively agree with this
