Default VAFC vs. EFI PMS or HONDATA (already searched)

pretty soon i should be rebuilding the top end on my B16A and i was wondering if i would be ok with just a VAFC for like 5 or 6 months till i get my bottom end built, or should i get something like hondata or EFI PMS before i rebuild it to prevent detonation? ill be rebuilding it with skunk2 stage 2 cams, sk2 valve springs, valves, and retainer's, Mugen head gasket, and possibly port polishing. thanks.

I think you would be fine either way. People go with crazy set-ups with only the VAFC and run perfectly fine. When you run higher compression and run the risk of detonation is when the Hondata systems will more of a need, but still not a necessity.

Just to make sure you know, if you still have your stock CR with the Skunk2 Stage 2 cams, you are not going to get the power you are probably looking for. Those cams like higher CR.

im not looking for a huge power gain, but i'll have a mugen head gasket and probably the Skunk2 High Comp. valves just to raise the compression a bit, but i havent heard any reviews on those valves, so im still skeptical.

and i'd definately go with AEM if it wasn't so damned expensive, and if it was emission's legal. thats why im going with the EFI PMS, keeps it legal and still very tunable.
