my 94 civic ex fuel filter is different than my friends 95 civic dx fuel filter. my filter has both fuel lines connecting at the top of the filter, whereas my friends has one fuel line connecting from the bottom and one connecting from the top.

I'd imagine it wouldn't help. It definently is not good in terms of optimum performance. The quality of fuel is degraded running through a clogged/dirty filter.
