FRUSTRATING! Troubleshooting help needed, misfire with map (3) cel
Here’s what I know:
Car is an 88 crx si with an OBD-1, b20vtec swap. Running a usdm p30 with blown90hatch’s conversion harness. I also have an AEM fuel rail with an adjustable fpr set at about 48. Car has always run flawlessly until recently. Timing is set to spec.
Symptoms: Car runs normally until it reaches operating temperature. Then when warm, it begins to slightly misfire. This quickly degenerates to the point where the car barely runs and revs have to be maintained to keep it from stalling. Will not idle at this point and stumbles badly upon acceleration. There seems to be plenty of fuel. You can smell it and the plugs show it, I think my cat has had enough raw fuel dumped on it to ruin it.
1. I have swapped out distributor for known good distributor.
2. Since I’m getting a map (3) cel, I tried a known good map sensor, and then yet a third map sensor.
3. The manual suggests that if not a map sensor, it could possibly be the ecu. Tried 2 others with no luck and threw the same code.
4. Back-probed the connector at the ecu and saw appropriate voltage.
5. Checked the tps, but it showed proper voltage closed and at wot.
Could a bad o2 sensor cause such a bad misfire? Any help would be appreciated. I’m hoping someone has experienced something similar and can suggest a fix.
thanks
