Default Fowler digital micrometers any good??

im in a process of searching for a good and affordable micrometer for my future engine builds, i stumbled upon Mitutoyo's, starrets and fowlers.

Fowlers mics seem to have a very good price, but im concern on the accuracy of fowlers product since the price is lower than the other two's. anyone/Engine builders out there have use these Fowler digital mics before? Im looking at a Fowler EZ to read Digital Ball Micrometer that reads down to .0001" for my main and rod bearings measuring. any other micrometer u guys suggest i should look into beside these that are good and affordable? please let me know.

-Regards Kevin

I have used all three at work. Some of us like the Fowlers better.

im looking at this one

will this work for measuring bearing thickness??

it's got ball anvil and spindle and reads down to .0001 and it's around 55 bucks. is this one worth it?

the well known brands seem to cost much more than $55. just remember "you get what you pay for." if you're going to spend a lot of money on building a motor you may as well sleep easy knowing you used good measuring instruments. i can't say anything about Fowlers as i've never used them. i think .0001" is critical on bearing clearances so if your mic is off that much your motor is screwed.

this is what you want. half of a ten thousandth!
