Default Floating Gears?

me and my dad having a debate about whether or not you can float gears on lets say a crx for instance....because i know you can on those semi's, on a semi you rev high to shift gear and you dont have to hit the clutch but im thinking other wise on any manual car...(not sure if this is the place but correct me if i put it in the wrong chan)

A lot of it has to do with the way the Honda synchros are designed. It's very possible to change gears without using the clutch, but instead of just revving it up, you need to rather precisely rev match the motor.
