Default Floated Valve

What's a floated valve?
What happens to the car? How does it run like and sound like?

Might have done it to my 98GSR. Ran a p28 Mugen chip and i hit 9000red line on accident.

Need some info.

Other wise my car's running ok right now. drove 80miles on it. seems fine.

you'd know if it hurt it

It will be skipping on some cylinders if the valve floated enough to hit a piston. Depending on how hard it hit, it may not be hurt to the point of not sealing.

Is it smoking or anything?

Floating a valve means the valvespring could not hold the valve assembly in proper contact with the cam. Usually floating valvetrain just weakens the springs. Do it enough and the valvespring will loose alot of tension, lowering float point. If you REALLY lucky the spring might break, then motor go BOOM! if the valve drops into cylinder.

yea you would know it if you bent a valve. it would tick...tick... tick and
your exhaust note will puff and pop coupled with a rough, stumbly idle.

thanks guys for answering my question.
yeah it seems fine.
other than the shitty idle it already has cause its a mugen program on stock cam shafts.
but I put in my stock p72 ECU to c if the idle is steady. And it is steady. No pops or puffs from the exausht.
I do hear a little more engine ticking. Maybe. or maybe i'm just parnoid.
thanks for the information!

As for the ticking I've heard of people needing a valve adjustment after a few too many high redline runs
