Im assuming by gearbox you mean Transmission. The B16 will bolt right in with stock DOHC mounts. Just use the harness out of your 97. You may have to add a VTEC controller depending on if your Civic had VTEC. By the way your 97 Civic is OBD2, just FYI.

i thought the same because of the year but i matched up the pics on the net and its an obd1 unless the pics are labeled wrong which could be the case!! so can you buy adaptors for the ecu????? the block will bolt in but the transmission is different could it be a import or something???

you need to get motor mounts for B-series for the model civic you are installing this motor into such as hasport cable mounts for b-series into ek civic

92-95 ecus are the same 96-98 are the same 99-00 are the same and should not be mixed in your situation you will need 96-98 delsol Vtec P30 ecu to direct fit or you can use a 99-00 SI ecu and use a OBD 2a-b converter

BTW where are you located ?

you can use your ecu but it will require rewiring almost every single pin. You will also have to use a Vtec controller and you may have to run a few wires to some extra sensors that you may have. You will have to add the clutch master cylinder and run the hydraulic lines for it.

I can build you a turbo kit for your D16. Run about $2000 with fuel management and an intercooler. Check out my site. http://www.rpmautosalon.net

lol! Dude you want my opinion. You should first decide how much you are going to spend. Its gonna cost money to get that B16 up and running and its gonna cost money to go turbo too. I think you should just put a small turbo kit on that D16 roll like that. As long as you dont get carried away, you will be fine
