First and Reverse, Sticky???
Ok yall i need a little help on this one. I have a 2000 civic si, no mods, b16, yadda yadda yadda. now the car only has 20000 miles on it, but here lately ive been noticing it doesnt want to go into first and reverse every now and then. it feels almost as if its catching on something. i have to try a couple time and then it will slide right into gear. same for reverse. It seems to be more common in the morning so i thought it was the cold. But i was driving back home and the car had warmed up. stop light, tried to put it into first, same issue??? What could be causing this. I dont drive it hard, ill admit ive had a little fun with it every now and then, but nothing drastic. Any help would be appreciated.
The first gear is a safety, so you don't accidently slam it in to first at 60mph
next time you're comming to a stop, take it out of gear and hold it at 1st gear with just a little pressure. Keep the clutch disengaged while you brake.
around 10mph it should pop in to first.
I'm pretty sure that safety is what you are refering to.
As for reverse, mine is goofy too. sometimes I'll shift in to reverse, and the shifter
goes in to place but the gears don't seem to catch, instead I just get a rattling noise.
