The vent cap is not a good spot. I use the fill plug. Work at getting the fill plug off 17mm. Jack it up so you can get some leverage on it. Its not too bad when you get the plug out.

use the vss, is actually pretty simple if you have a long funnel and the intake is out of the way

Don't use the vent use the proper fill spot so that you know that its at the right level. If you don't have the right funnel its time to invest into one there not expensive. Over filling can be worse than under filling.

Overfilling the tranny by a few ouces is not going to kill it. It will just cavitate the oil a little. You can use the vent tube if you have a little patience. If the fill plug is rounded off it may be a good alternative. What tranny do you have? If its a B series it will take 2.7 qts to fill. hope this helps. I hate stripped fill plugs.

I just filled mine yesterday, and 2 qts wont even come close. I used a little bit over 2.5 so if you are filling it blindly 2.7 is a safe amount. there is room for too much oil and not enough too.

i agree with him, i never had a tranny(hydro or cable) take over two quarts! i'll have to check the helms, on the oil capacity of the tranny!

another thing..make sure you fill it up with the car sitting leval..every time I have the front end jacked up I can only get 1.5 in it so maybe thats why some only get 2.0 or 2.2 in it..

a funnel and a 3 foot heater hose with a tube hanging out to fit in the vss hole is the easyest way I have found..

I made a beer bong type thing outta a cheap funnel and a few feet of clear plastic hose from home depot. just undo the fill plug, drop the hose down from the top, then go underneath and put it in the fill hole, then your ready to pour. ...just like a beer bong... ahh beer...

i too have noticed this, but it's hard to have the car in a neutral position and be able to reach the fill hole. i'll be getting a funnel, some clear hose from home depot, and buying 1QT containers to fill the tranny through the vss hole
