Field's AFC VS Apex'i S-AFC
S-AFC is a better unit. Graphical displays and graphical appearance are very attractive. Never used fields unit, only heard about it. I have heard you can only control the fuel up to 30% with field's sfc. Apexi V-AFC can control fuel up to 50%
Hope this helps

Check Ebay. I got my Field unit for like $144 shipped. Used, but looks new and works just fine. Unless you have a lot of dollars or like pretty blue displays, I would say get a used Field SFC and use the extra money on something else brother!
Thanks guys
The only thing I have heard that sways me in the direction of the Apex'i unit is that it *AUTOMATICALLY* adjusts your air/fuel ratio for optimum performance, while the Fields kit needs to be dialed in manually. HAHAHA I agree that the pretty blue dispaly is basically useless, since whichever unit I get will be mounted in the glove compartment anyway. Since I am a total turd at adjusting anything, the Apex'i might take any of the gueswork out

I had to make this decision recently. I went with the Apex'i S-AFC (non-VTEC)
If you are looking for function alone the Fields will do I believe. However if you want a little more control and extra features the Apex'i is teh way to go.
The Apex'i moniters throttle position, RPMs and manifold pressure. It also holds peak figures for what ever you are monitering and has a rcord and playback feautre.
Now up until last night..I was thinking..who gives a **** about my manifold pressure..how is that gonna help me?
Well...a buddy of mine explained it to me...
With the engine off and the key in the "ON" position (S-AFC unit on) blip the throttle to get the absolute (true) atmosphere pressure. Take the car out for a spin and do WOT runs through every gear...record everything with the Apex'i unit. When done...replay and watch what happens. At 100% throttle the manifold pressure should read what it did when the car was off. If as RPMs rise the manifold pressure drops..then something is causing a restriction in the intake (filter, TB, or manifold itself).
Just in doing thta..youre using a a large amount of the features teh Apex'i offers. Also as stated the Apex'i can be adjusted in 500 RPM incriments but also it has a Lo-Throttle and Hi-Throttle setting. You can adjust 8 points for Lo-Throttle and 8 points for Hi-Throttle..plus you can select at what throttle position the change takes place.
Oh yea..and I cant leave out the fact the teh Apex'i looks dope as hell! It actually gets a little more attention then Id like sometimes...but its a nice looking piece.

Sounds good - good info I wasn't aware of. I just needed something to active VTEC since I'm swapping an EX head onto my motor. I will probably use it to adjust the fuel curve once I go to bigger injectors, and more flexibility would be nice, but I'm on an extreme budget these days!
BTW prices have been increased by Apex'i so after shops run out of the current supply the new batches will be priced higher I hear.
JDMHondaParts.com has the V-AFC for $330 right now..which is probably one of the best prices you will find.

Beware of JDMhondaparts.com
The may advertise good prices but their customer service is total crap. I personally have tried to order from them with no luck made as well as several other people on this board. I would be willing to pay $50 extra not to shop at JDMhondaparts.com. You should have better luck with a group buy or try machiii.net
Machiii.net has always quoted me good prices anything I want and they have great customer service. I been to the store a couple of times so I can tell you it's not just some guy selling parts out of his garage (as I suspect JDMhondaparts.com does).

i'm trying to decide between those 2 units, from what i've heard so far the apexi is incredibly complex and can take forever to program. Here are instructions for both:

Man it is soo simple to use. Seriously.
When I first got it and was going through the instruction book..I was like WTF?! But once you get it hooked up and try it hands-pn..its very simple and straight foreward to use.
