well i have a fidanza flywheel in my car and i like it for hiway use but as for the 1/4 mile it sucks u loose toque plus it revs up wayy too fast so i guess it would depend on what ur using it for ?? ps if ur boosting or juicing def. dont get it

You don't lost torque with a lightweight flywheel.

Your 1/4 mile time should decrease, not increase. Anything else is driver error.

It is good for boost, helps the turbo spool faster.

I have had one in both of my last two cars, one all motor and now a boosted application. I love it in both, just have to pay attention in a boosted car b/c it revs so fast you don't want to slam the redline all the time.

you will lose torque...............rotational mass is gone. The inertial forces on the flywheel make up some of that torque from the energy given to it by the crank....same concept for tractor pulling.....the heavier truck will pull the sled further.

What do inertial forces of the flywheel have to with the weight of a tractor?

light flywheel is good for raod racing..your not gonna get that burn out torque as much but that doesnt matter to me or someone who wants overall performance

I am NOT getting involved in another one of these "it loses torque" debates, but I do have a Fidanza flywheel on my heavily modded NA GSR and it revs very quickly. It's an improvement over stock IMO and I have the tranny and clutch out right now after 20k miles or so and the fidanza fly looks new.

im about to buy one too, i have seen this debate a couple of times. it seems like a 65/35 pro/con makeup a lot of the time...

i want the throttle response but intial launching torque is important to me too.

still...i will probably buy one in a week

also...it pisses me off when people say "investing" when they are buying mods. you are not investing anything, you are throing your money down the toilet and will never get anything close or above the original "investment" back.

heh

Oh thats right, I forgot. Yeah buy the heaviest rods, pistons, then dip them all in iron. Get a nice set of 22" chrome wheels and put lead weights all along the inside of them. Now we're talking POWER. All that extra weight will send your torque through the roof mang!

You don't know what you're talking about.

A lighter flywheel will make your car feel as if it has lost weight. There is a formula you can use that uses your gear ratios and tire ratios and calculates how much lighter your car will feel through each gear.

for me i think 1st gear was 155lbs lighter witha 9lbs flywheel.

yeah, i am pretty sure in the situation of an engine that the rotationaly mass is that of the crank, otherwise, heavier wheels would add torque, and if thats true then why the hell are we spending so much money of Volk wheels?!?

^^oh and nice sig. do you like the tears for fears version or the gary jules cover from donnie darko?
