A Few Swap Questions
I've recently completed my motor swap of a 1990 Integra LS [B18A1] into my 1992 Civic VX hatch. I'm having a few issues and was wondering if anyone on here has any input.
First, the oxygen sensor. I am using the VX wiring harness because when finances are good enough, I'm doing an LS-VTEC conversion. The VX engine [D15Z1] uses a 5 wire oxygen sensor since it is a lean burn engine...it's the same sensor that most Wideband Lambda meters use. The guy at Mahdavi said it shouldn't be a problem for me to use this on the B18A1 with the P75 ECU, but I'm just wanting a second opinion. Will this O2 sensor work or do I have to convert to a 4 wire harness?
Second, the thing just isn't starting. I know this engine was good...I had it in a CX Hatch for about 3 months before someone totalled the rear end. The car sat a good 4 months, and now it's not starting. Correct me if I'm wrong, but for an engine to run you need air, fuel, spark, and compression. I know it's getting air, I know it's getting spark, and I know it's getting fuel. We did a compression test on it yesterday and all the cylinders had compression. Today I think I'm going to swap in a different set of LS injectors, and double check the mechanical and electrical timing. My friend who is a mechanic says it's probably the mechanical timing, but there is no way the engine could have jumped mechanical timing while it sat for 4 months!
If anyone has any constructive input, I'm all ears...

I finally got the car running great, but it's throwing a CEL...41, which is O2 sensor heater. Is this because I'm running a 5 wire O2 sensor and the P75 is looking for a 4 wire?
WHAT!!? This guy told you that the 5-wire O2 should work with an LS ECU? Totally incorrect information.
5-wire O2's are controlled by the ECU. 4-wire O2's simply output a voltage.
At the end of day, you NEED to convert to a 4-wire O2 sensor.

Yeah, Dave @ H&A Specialists confirmed that for me. I have a GS-R harness on the way with a 4-wire plug, and I'm getting a 4 wire sensor for the new harness. Will the 4 wire harness work with a P28 ECU as well? I am doing an LS-VTEC one of these days [hence the need for a harness with VTEC plugs] and will be using a P28 with Hondata.
I'm going to do an LS-VTEC in the near future...planning ahead. No sense in buying a non VTEC harness now and then buying a VTEC harness in a few months. It never hurts to drive with a few plugs dangling.

No problem their, that's what hybriding is all about. Every problem can be resolved.
Someone just a while explained how to covert the 4-wire o2, I would suggest searching for that. Good luck.
