Subject: OBX LSD Info
I own a 1995 Acura Integra but unfortunately have a Y1 B16A Cable transmission. I would like to install one of your OBX LSD into this cable transmission.
I would like to know which one you recommend for my application.
I hear people say it will not work properly, because that tranny was not designed to use LSD, what do you think ?
I also hear people say they have trouble getting the axles out when using the LSD - some say they have to knock it out, sometimes damaging the unit. Is that a legitimate problem that you guys are aware of ?? Is there some precaution we can take to avoid this scenario altogether ??
Where can I purchase your OBX LSD (Part No. ??????) ???
Thanks for your feedback and info,
Michael Dixon

Hello Michael,
Thanks for your inquiry. The correct part number to order for '95 Integra would be our part # LSD9000.
Our LSD are designed to lock-into the axle, after is installed, so that during high speed, the axle does not pop out, which can cause severe steering control problems (I am sure that, no drivers wants that).
Most of the Do-it-yourselfers does not have proper tools to remove our LSD, so they end up breaking the lock-pin on the axle, not on the actual LSD since all the gears and housing are steel solid forged material. Our LSD has a full written lifetime warranty from all manufacturer defects as well.
We have been selling these real world, road proven OBX LSD for about 4 years , we have not gotten one back for any manufacturer defect issues.
Furthermore, I cannot comprehend the fact that, why would people keep tweaking around with these LSD after is perfectly installed and have no other reasons or cause to keep pulling the axle out.
It is beyond my imaginations.
For retail sales, service, discounts and additional inquiries, please contact: http://www.tuningdepot.com Their phone number is: (650) 228-1461. Please ask for Eric or Jeff for special internet discount prices.
Thank you

Have a good one,

Personally, I think they're full of ****.
OBX isn't exactly known for strict R&D standards.
I don't recall these being available for 4 years.
He doesn't understand the need to take axles out after putting them in the first time.
His English Comprehension isn't fit for American Customer Service.
You should email him back and ask which tools all the DIY'ers don't have available to them at Sears.
(oh yeah, this is just my opinion though)

Surely not!
If their innards are forged steel, I cant imagine them shearing gears or anything of the sort. Install error isn't exactly far fetched in this case. Of course, take everything with a grain of salt.

He expects that once someone installs his LSD and then inserts their axles, that they are never gonna have to pull the axles out again - WTF??
Quaifes don't exhibit this, do they?

What if you broke you axle? ofcourse you have to take it out to replace it. That customer service guy is full of shizznax!!. I had a hard enough time taking my axle out during a swap, and the diff is OEM, I cant immagine how harder it will be to take one with OBX (i might just break or put a whole in my tranny).
