Default factory head gasket thickness

what is the factory thickness for b16 head gaskets? because i went to c-speedracing's compression calculator and it was using .029 for a factory thickness, but i have a cometic .030 that i was told is the thinnest they could give me. I thought factory gaskets were up in the .030's like 34-36 or something.

i know for sure a stock ls gasket is .029", might be the same for other b series. you could of gotten a thinner head gasket then that. my cometic head gasket was .025". this is the thinest they make for the emboss version for the mls style. any thinner then .025" would have none of the embossment and would be a single layer

we called cometic and they only offer a .030 and one other for a 81mm b16 and they said the stock gasket was a .036 i believe and the .030 was equivelant to taking one layer off of my stock gasket and bumping compression up .2
oh well, i guess i'll just use it.

My B16A2 gasket measured .027" after it was removed (used gasket).

All OE B series head gaskets are 0.029".... You'll be fine goin with a Cometic 0.030", you aren't going to loose that much compression over 1/100th of an inch... You figure that 1" ='s ~26mm's 26mm's/1000th's of an inch ='s 0.026mm's for every 1/1000th of an inch... A factory gasket is 0.029 so, (0.026)x(29)='s 0.754mm's for an OE gasket... (0.026)x(30(Cometic))='s 0.780mm's... So the difference is the 1/100th.. 0.026mm's With a standard 81mm bore motor it is pretty safe to say that for every 0.2513mm's you take off you gain ~0.25:1 in your C/R and vise versa... you're 0.026 is ~10 times smaller then that change so I would say that your C/R would drop somewhere between 0.02-0.03:1... Not a noticable change at all... Sorry I brought all this math into it but I've been studyin for my Chem final all nite and i'm sorta in the mood... hahaha... ****, my test is in an 1:15 min... Peace

well that really irritates me that cometic is saying that gasket is under OE size and it will up my compression by .2 pts. I want to find a good gasket that will just up the compression a little bit. I really hate to go from 10.4 to 10.2 because of the cometic gasket, I was looking at going more into the 10.6 range or up. Its just the JDM B16 second gen. Any suggestions on any other gasket companies?

Spoon or mugen headgaskets clame to raise compression by .3. I just finished installing mine on the weekend.
